The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, The National Bank, and Think Palestine signed a cooperation agreement today to provide support for the Ministry-approved supplementary education program for children in the Gaza Strip. This cooperation is part of the Ministry's multi-agency relief umbrella program for the Gaza Strip.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Amjad Barham, the CEO of TNB, Salameh Khalil, and the Chairman of Think Palestine, Rami Ghanem, in the presence of several representatives of partner institutions.
Under the agreement, TNB will fund the supplementary education program approved by the Ministry and implemented by Think Palestine in the Gaza Strip for children in kindergarten, as well as for students in the first, second, and third grades. The program will be implemented intensively over 12 consecutive weeks, after which students will be officially accepted into higher grades.
In this context, Barham emphasized that the agreement was part of the effective efforts led by the Ministry to support education in the Gaza Strip and provide all educational opportunities for children despite the current circumstances and challenges. He praised the successful partnership with the banking sector and institutions supporting education, which demonstrates a deep commitment and a high sense of responsibility towards education. He called for the continuation of this cooperation to ensure the promotion and support of education, especially in the Gaza Strip.
For his part, Khalil emphasized that this initiative was part of TNB’s commitment to ensuring that Gaza's children receive the necessary education to overcome the challenges posed by the aggression. It will allow them to be admitted into higher grades and ensure they do not lose any time. He praised the Ministry of Education's relief program for the Gaza Strip and the sustainable programs implemented by Think Palestine, emphasizing that education is a fundamental right and the cornerstone of building the nation.
For his part, Ghanem said, "In light of the difficult circumstances facing the children of Gaza, this program is an essential step to ensure they enjoy their right to education and do not lose time due to the war. We at Think Palestine believe that education is the cornerstone of the future, and we are working hard to provide a supplementary educational environment that helps children in overcoming challenges and continuing their education. In addition to this program, we have many other relief projects that respond to urgent needs in Gaza, from providing urgent aid and food parcels to launching humanitarian appeals and supporting affected families. We thank TNB and the Ministry of Education for their support, and we look forward to achieving a positive and sustainable impact in the lives of students and the community as a whole."
